I am traveling to latin America during my gap year. I will start by take spanish lessons at the language school, Intercultura, in Heretia, Costa Rica for 3 - 4 Weeks. Then, I am going to spend a couple months doing volunteer work in central america. I want to come away from this experience with some college credits that will transfer into whatever school I decide to attend next fall. I can get transfer credits through the World Language Central (worldlanguagecentral.com). Hoiwever, they are really expensive. If Im taking classes for 3 weeks, I can get 3 credits for $450 or 4 credits for $550. That seems like a lot. Are ther eany cheaper ways I can get college credit for this experience? I am not currentle enrolled in any school. I am applying to colleges this fall.

Could I just take an AP exam next spring? I know those only cost like $80 or $90.

I don’t think I’ll need accomodation since I’ll probably stay with a friend. I’m looking for the school with the highest quality of teaching. Preferably private lessons.
