Should I Change From GCSE Spanish To French?
Chris asked:
I really want to change, but I think I might have missed a lot of work as now it is the 10th week into the term. I really hate Spanish, not thge subject, the way it is being taught. My Spanish teacher is French so I can hardly understand what he is saying at most of the time he cannot understand me. The only way to be acknowledged in his class is to shout out but he sends you out for that but if you put your hand up he will never answer you just ignore you or tell you to get on with the work. He never explains anything properly so literally nobody in the class understands the work, we haven’t covered even half the work we should have by now. He won’t even help you with anything as he expects you to know it all because there were 2 Spanish classes last year as there used to be 2 teachers and most of us were in the top set. He set us an essay on things we hadn’t been taught and everybody got a D or some people (including me) just scraped a C even though if we had a better teacher we would have all got A’s because last year we had an amazing Spanish teacher who set nearly all of our targets as A’s but she left the school and now we have the current teacher. He is the only Spanish teacher in the school. I really want to change from French to Spanish because I still know more of French even though I don’t do it any more and all the French teachers are excellent and you learn a lot from them. I will talk to my head of year about it tomorrow if I can but if I did I would have to go into another Business Studies class and another IT class and have my whole timetable redone. Would I be able to catch up with the work I missed if they let my swap? Would it be worth me changing or should I stick with Spanish? I always put a lot of hard work into my Spanish lessons but I really don’t have anything to work with as I have learnt absoultely nothing in the past 10 weeks in my Spanish class. Thank you
